Smokin’ Aces is one of the most entertaining movies I have ever seen…..EVER. Written and directed by Joe Carnahan (Narc), Smokin’ Aces is about a Las Vegas performer turned mobster who is being forced to snitch on all his mob connections in order to save himself from persecution. As you can imagine, the mob isn’t too happy about that and sends several teams of assassins to silence the snitch. At the same time the feds are trying to protect their witness because his testimony is the only chance they have for any kind of case.
So the story line is pretty simple. This movie makes up for it though with its non-stop violent action sequences and its hilarious script. I can’t believe what a pleasently shocking good movie this ended up being. The acting in this film is decent… Ryan Reynolds does an awesome job portraying his character. As a young cop that has to defend his witness against a slew of mob assasins, Ryan Reynolds does great but the serious tone at the end of the film doesn’t really match the rest of the film. The rest of the film being a generous portion of humor, action, crime drama,...Read More

Movies By Thor
because let's face it...some movies suck...
Speed Racer Posted on Sat, 10 May 2008 19:45:16
Rated PG for sequences of action, some violence, language, and brief smoking
Written and directed by the Wachowski … siblings, Speed Racer is based on the cartoon beloved by dorky kids the world over. I won’t lie, I’ve seen a couple of episodes and its campy humor was a little too much for me then and this movie proves it still is.
Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch), as young as he is, is the best racer in this futuristic racing sport that is basically Deathrace 2000 all over again. Crazy drivers in crazy cars that have been modified to “take out” the opponent race across the country. Speed dreams of filling the shoes of his brother Rex Racer who broke records before a tragic and mysterious accident in a race resulted in his death. Speed’s father, Pops (John Goodman), tries to keep his family safe and distant from the greedy corporate sponsors that constantly woo his son, but eventually Speed is introduced to the corrupt side of racing… and having decided he wants no part of it and with the help of Trixi...Read More
Iron Man Posted on Fri, 02 May 2008 07:49:44
Rated PG-13 for some intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and some suggestive content
Jon Favreau proves he can do it all. He got his name out there with one of the best guy movies of all time, he conquered the holiday/family film, and now he proves he is well capable of making awesome action films. Iron Man is the first comic book movie released by Marvel’s film studio and is sure to please audiences of all ages. I guess they got tired of selling the movie rights to comics for millions just to watch them end up making billions.
Billionaire Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is as brilliant as he is eccentric. While displaying his newest missile system to the U.S. military his convoy is attacked by a terrorist group who force him to build weapons for their cause. Instead he builds a metallic suit that not only keeps his injured heart going but is also one helluva weapon! After escaping his imprisonment he vows to use his technology to save lives and keep the instruments of death, especially the ones he created, out of evildoer’...Read More
Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2008 06:58:48
Rated R for strong crude and sexual content, graphic nudity, pervasive language, and of course…drug use
Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay is a stoner movie for stoners. ‘Nuff said. It’s written and directed by a pair of guys you’ve never heard of. Aside from this and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle they haven’t really done anything. It picks up from the same day “White Castle” stops off at, and it’s basically the same shenanigans all over again.
Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) take a flight to Amsterdam to catch up with Maria, who Harold just confessed his love to at the end of “White Castle”. But when Kumar tries to start his own mile “high” club on the flight they cause a terrorist scare and are sent to Guantanamo Bay as prisoners by the order of Ron Fox (Rob Corddry), a government agent who is convinced the pair are a threat to the nations security. They escape, very easily, and are on a run from these agents who ...Read More
